INTRODUCTION

Civil Engineering Department (CED) is one of the main departments at Politeknik Sultan Mizan Zainal Abidin. The department produces semi skilled workforce which supports civil engineers and industrial construction professionals in constructing buildings, infrastructures and also public amenities appropriate/in line with the country’s vision.

This department offers module that gives exposure to the students in both aspect; theory and practical. Besides being able to use the latest lab and workshop facilities, guidance and observation are also given to the student in becoming efficient and skilful graduate in the civil engineering field.

VISION

Civil Engineering Department aims to be an excellent education centre in producing/generating outstanding, high standard, well-mannered and responsible civil engineering graduate parallel with the country’s Educational Philosophy by the year 2012.

Produce quality and productive semi-skilled workforce in civil engineering field to support and fulfill the public and private sector in line with the construction industry development in Malaysia.

COURSES OFFERED

This department offers Certificate in Civil Engineering course (SKA) and Diploma in Civil Engineering Course (DKA). The duration of certificate level is 4 semesters whereby the students must undergo an industrial training for one semester. On the other hand, the diploma course takes 6 semesters for SPM holder and at least 2 semesters for polytechnic certificate holder. Part time course for Diploma in Civil Engineering is also offered whereby the students are required to attend classes during weekends.

Among other facilities provided to accommodate students at CED area are rest and discussion area with wireless internet (wi-fi).
